Weekends are for family, for wandering, and for dirt under my fingernails. This third season on my little patch of earth has taught me patience – some plants thri
ve, others (like my dogwoods) give up. But the cherry trees I wrestled into frozen ground? They’re blooming for the sunny days.
My neighbours hand me twigs and help me handle that sprout leaves in weeks. I collect bird songs and sit under birch curtains, coffee in hand. The forest cranes know my car; they don’t even flinch.
Summer brings simple food – asparagus, new potatoes, tomatoes I’m trying to grow myself. It may work, it may not. But the joy happiness is in the trying. I wish you a season where nature soothes you, surprises you, and reminds you that slow is beautiful.
